Always Be a Friend is the true story about their dog’s life, though the element of fantasy is present as young readers are invited into Chessy’s imagination. While recounting her life’s big moments, Chessy pauses to impart special life lessons to the members of her family, and with you, the reader.
This book is mean to inspire conversations about important topics such as self-confidence, kindness, creativity, and understanding our various human emotions.

You can see that I have had a variety of professional labels over the years. These days, I am leaning into my ‘and’ while resisting the urge to label myself as just one thing. I am Lauren, I do lots of things.
All of the many things I have done have led me to this moment. I am proud to present my first book, “Always Be a Friend.”
