Handing Down Home
Over a year ago, I thought ‘Handing Down Home’ was going to be the title of my blog. I even bought the domain and started it that way. Only after 3 posts, I didn’t open the site for 10 months. I thought it was just a thing that didn’t pan out.
Then in February, I answered the call to write. This time, I am allowing myself to dream and see that writing can mean so much more than having a blog. My dreams are slowly being visualized and I am currently in the very early conceptualization stages of writing a fiction book with the underlying theme of handing down a sense of home. It will be based a lot of off my life experiences and some of the characters will be very obvious, while others may be blends or completely made up.
I also realized, that writing non-fiction about this topic of the feeling of home, among others, is also important to me. I truly believe that there are people out there who need to here this message and allow themselves to live in the light of the love they lost. Rather than dedicate an entire blog to this topic, I have decided to write a blog series entitled Handing Down Home. I will start with how I define home in this context. I will then deal directly with the grief that awakened this idea within me. I will also give some practical ways to live home, and how to hand down this idea of home to your kids.
Home is part of who we are. And this ties into my larger message of the importance of knowing ourselves, and living as well rounded human beings. God made every one of us unique, He expects us to be true to that design.
With this series, I aim to encourage others to live the legacy of home; both home as you remember it, and the home you are living right now and handing it down for generations to come.
